Hi! I’m Tishi Avvaru.
A Statistics and Data Science graduate from UCLA, who pursued a double minor in History & Ancient Near Eastern Studies while being involved with student theater, I consider myself an extremely well-rounded individual.
I hail from right outside St. Louis, Missouri, where I developed and discovered my passion for cataloging data. Unironically, I fell in love with spreadsheets — I was making them for theater, for my schedules, for anything and everything I could think of. In high school, I also discovered my passions for theater (tech) and archeology. While I was unable to explore these interests beyond the surface level in Missouri, I got the amazing opportunity to move to Los Angeles for college.
Attending the University of California, Los Angeles allowed me to foster my interest in data through the Statistics and Data Science department, where I primarily focused on R in my coursework and gained the tools necessary to pursue personal data-related projects.
While at UCLA, I was gifted with the opportunity to further explore my interest in Ancient Near Eastern Studies, with an emphasis in Mesopotamia. I am well-versed in Mesopotamian history from 3000 BCE onwards, as well as in Sumerian, the ancient state of Elam, and archeology. I was also fortunate to become involved with Lapu, the Coyote that Cares Theatre Company — UCLA’s Asian American theatre company. LCC gave me practical project management skills from an unconventional source.
In my career, I want to make an impact. Whether this is though digital archeology and archival work — cataloging artifacts to uncover information about ancient societies; documenting, analyzing, and preserving knowledge —, the arts — working to ensure funding for artists, analyzing the gaps in need and serving underrepresented creative communities —, or simply working with a company that ensures social impact and sustainability within its industry, I would be overjoyed to apply my skills and grow within my field.
Across all my interests, I’m drawn to making connections, creating narratives, and ensuring information remains accessible. I’m so excited to connect with you!
